An auction house that posts for you, not a source for LitBuy
eBay is an online marketplace where private sellers and businesses list items, and the seller sends the parcel to the buyer. That is a cross-border shopping platform in the sense LitBuy uses: its how-to article says it cannot purchase from them. An eBay link has no LitBuy code, and Fill & Buy, which LitBuy provides for sources such as Xianyu and Pinduoduo, does not list it among its sources. You pay on eBay, follow eBay's checkout and wait for the seller's tracking number.
The one connection is a Chinese-market twin. If a listing's product also appears on Taobao, Weidian or 1688, you can compare an eBay price with a LitBuy landed cost. Condition matters, because many eBay items are used and a Chinese-marketplace twin is new, so you are not weighing like against like. The link converter will rebuild a Chinese link for LitBuy once you have found the twin.
eBay stays eBay; the link only matters when a Taobao or Weidian twin exists.
Trackers, templates and profit sheets
Our keyword file shows about 170 global monthly searches for "eBay spreadsheet", one of the smallest platform figures we hold. Behind it sit three kinds of file, and mixing them up wastes time.
- A price tracker records what an item costs, or sold for, across listings.
- A seller template lines up many items for upload or review, with title, quantity, price and postage.
- A profit sheet subtracts cost, postage and fees from the sale price.
For a buyer, the tracker is the useful file; for a seller, the template and the profit sheet. We did not read eBay's help pages, so we do not state its upload formats or fee rates. Take both from your seller account, where the current figures are shown. What this site can add is the landed cost of Chinese-market stock, the number that goes into the "cost" column of a profit sheet. Our LitBuy spreadsheet template already builds that figure per row.
Know whether you are tracking prices or running a stall before you pick a template.
Columns for the tracker and the seller sheet
| Column | Price tracker | Seller template |
|---|---|---|
| Item | Name, condition | Title, condition, quantity |
| Link | Listing address | Source link for stock |
| Price | Listed or sold price | Planned selling price |
| Postage | Shown at checkout | Method and weight |
| Date | Date checked, auction end | Date listed |
| Total or margin | Total you would pay | Sale price minus cost, postage and fees |
| Notes | Seller country, return terms | Supplier, batch, storage date |
Auction listings need one more cell: the end time, since a price on Monday means little on Thursday. In German, eBay labels fixed-price listings Sofort-Kaufen, and a tracker should say which type each row is, because auction prices move while fixed prices do not.
The total you would pay, not the headline price, is the column that decides.
Break-even: when does eBay's postage beat a LitBuy parcel
Everything here is hypothetical. A padded jacket on a Chinese marketplace costs ¥260, about €31.20 at ¥1 ≈ €0.12, and weighs an assumed 0.9 kg in its bag. The same style appears on eBay for €40.00 plus postage we do not know. LitBuy's estimator quoted €24.12 ($27.10) for 1,000 g to Germany on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE on 19 October 2026, at list price, and parcels submitted after 25 October 2026 add €2. We leave out seller shipping inside China.
One hypothetical ¥260 jacket, assumed 0.9 kg, Germany
Goods: ¥260€31.20
DHL line to Germany, 1,000 g band, list€24.12 ($27.10)
EU handling fee after 25 October 2026€2.00
Landed total, before coupons€57.32
Hypothetical eBay item price€40.00
Break-even postage on eBay€17.32
The reading is plain. If the eBay seller's delivered total to your door is under €57.32, eBay wins on price. Above it, the twin is cheaper, though a one-item parcel carries the full freight and fee. Add a second jacket of the same weight and the 2,000 g quote of €38.75 applies, so the sum changes; the shipping calculator reruns it. Used items and a new twin are not the same product, which is why this is a price check rather than a recommendation.
Break-even postage is €17.32 in this example; your listing decides which side wins.
Sourcing for resale: what changes
If the sheet is for stock you will sell, the questions get harder. LitBuy's help names two markers that make a parcel likelier to count as commercial: weight above 10 kg and many identical items. We could not verify what that does to tax or customs handling, so write to LitBuy support before sending bulk. Customs can also detain goods suspected of infringing a trademark under EU Regulation 608/2013, and a rights holder can request destruction; that applies to any seller. Check eBay's own listing rules before you buy a category, as we did not read them.
Germany applies 19% import VAT from the first euro, and a temporary flat €3 duty per tariff category applies to small IOSS parcels up to €150 since 1 July 2026. On LitBuy's tax-free EU lines the duty is a flat €3 per parcel, whatever the categories. A business seller has its own VAT duties on top, which we do not cover. See the customs page for what a notice from German customs asks of you.
Resale turns a shopping question into a tax question; answer it first.
Where LitBuy still helps an eBay buyer
It helps with new items that only Chinese marketplaces list, and with mixed sheets where those rows share one parcel. The marketplace hub maps every platform to its route, and the Taobao page shows the code 1 format. Keep eBay rows in their own block with the delivered price, and keep the LitBuy block in its own total.
Returns deserve a column of their own. We did not read eBay's return rules, so record what each listing says before you pay. On the LitBuy side, a return request before shipment must begin within 5 days (120 hours) of the item being warehoused and costs both domestic shipping legs plus ¥5, while after delivery abroad you contact support@litbuy.com first and pay the return shipping yourself. Ask which of the two safety nets you would rather rely on for an item that must fit, because a jacket in the wrong size wipes out whatever the break-even sum promised.
Judge each route on its delivered total and keep them in separate blocks.
eBay questions from LitBuy buyers
Can LitBuy buy an item listed on eBay?
No. LitBuy's how-to guide says it cannot purchase from cross-border shopping platforms, and eBay sellers already ship to Germany, France, the US and the UK themselves. Buy on eBay and keep the listing record. If the same product sits on Taobao or Weidian, that link converts to LitBuy as code 1 or 2, with a different seller and a yuan price.
Which files go by the name eBay spreadsheet?
Our keyword file shows about 170 global monthly searches, so the demand is small. The files behind it are price trackers that record what similar items sold for, listing templates that sellers fill in for many items at once, and profit sheets. None is a LitBuy sheet, though a tracker can include a Chinese-market twin column.
Which columns belong in an eBay price tracker?
Item name, condition, listing link, date checked, price, shipping shown, seller country, end date for auctions and the total you would pay. The total column matters most, since two listings with the same price can differ by the postage. Add a sold-price cell if you track what similar items actually fetched.
What does a seller template need beyond the price?
Title, condition, quantity, price, postage method, weight, cost of the item, source link and a notes cell. The cost and source columns are what make it a business sheet, because they let you see margin after postage. We did not read eBay's fee pages, so leave fees as a cell you fill from the seller account.
How do I decide between an eBay listing and a LitBuy twin?
Compute the twin's landed euro cost, then subtract the eBay item price. The difference is the postage at which eBay breaks even. In our hypothetical, a ¥260 jacket lands at €57.32 in Germany, so against a €40.00 eBay item the break-even postage is €17.32. Condition, size and returns can still tip the choice.
Is reselling Chinese-market goods on eBay covered by LitBuy's tax lines?
LitBuy's tax-free EU lines suit ordinary parcels. Its help warns that parcels over 10 kg, or with many identical items, are more likely to be treated as commercial, and we could not verify what that changes. Reselling carries tax and listing obligations we do not cover, so ask LitBuy support and take professional advice before you source stock.
